Whether it’s pitching a tent, setting up a camper trailer or experiencing the caravan or motorhome camp experience, at Lachlan we warmly welcome and cater for all visitors including freedom campers.
Leave the stresses of the city life behind and head out bush where you will be met with good old fashioned bush hospitality offered by friendly locals who will make you feel very much at home. Try your luck fishing and throw in a line along the Lachlan River, the inspiration for Banjo Patterson’s famous prose Clancy of the Overflow.

Our towns and villages of Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo and Tottenham are all RV Friendly offering amenities and services for the mobile traveller. These locations are also home to Council owned Caravan Parks that offer powered and unpowered sites and cabins. Facilities include camp kitchens, BBQ’s and it wouldn’t be true bush hospitality if we weren’t also pet friendly.
Gum Bend Lake at our major town Condobolin, or Condo as it’s known to the locals, is fast becoming one of the “must visit” freedom camping sites across Australia. Known for our excellent standard of facilities and the friendliness of the community, sunsets at our two main freedom camp locations, Gum Bend Lake and Dead Man’s Point Lake Cargelligo, are worth experiencing.
Lake Cargelligo is a spectacular location and is the showpiece of the largest natural inland lake system in NSW having a volume of 36,000 mega litres, a surface area of 1,440 hectares and an average depth of 3.7 metres. Lake Cargelligo is the perfect place for recreation of all kinds including water skiing, fishing, canoeing, swimming, camping and much more. Your ultimate bush experience awaits you.
48 hours in the Lachlan Region
DAY 1
While taking in our relaxed country lifestyle, enjoy the Wiradjuri Study Centre renowned for its range of local indigenous art, relax at Gum Bend Lake, a popular spot for water activities including water-skiing and canoeing or, stretch your legs on a bushwalk up Mount Tilga and take in the panoramic view.
DAY 2
After enjoying lunch in town, visit the Condobolin Historical Museum which contains a variety of displays depicting Condobolin’s pioneers, including a local WW1 Centenary display or step back in time to view the Lachlander museum, one of the last newspapers in Australia to change from ‘hot metal’ printing to computerisation, only making the change on a permanent basis in January 2004. All the equipment which was previously used has been kept complete and is available for inspection. Both museums are in the main street of Condobolin.
