One of NSW’s great scenic drives, the Bells Line of Road winds from Sydney through the historic hamlet of Kurrajong, climbing to Bellbird Hill Lookout for sweeping coastal views before arriving in Bilpin – the orchard heartland, famous for roadside apple pies, fresh cider and produce stalls piled high with seasonal fruit.

Further west, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden at Mount Tomah is a must, perched 1,000 metres above sea level, free to enter, and absolutely radiant in Autumn colour.

As the road begins its dramatic descent toward Lithgow, step aboard the historic Zig Zag Railway and set aside time to explore the wild gorges and ancient forests of the surrounding national parks.
